What’s New From Who: 5/1 & 5/2

What’s new? Hmmmff! It couldn’t be more apparent that we’ve got a whole lot of news beginning with the return of Artists & Fleas Market in McCarren. That’s right – we’re kicking off Summertime in a big way by opening up back outside at lovely McCarren Park in our Saturday only market in the park in partnership with the Open Space Alliance (the cool kids behind the Williamsburg Waterfront concerts – check this Summer’s calendar and line-up!). The fun begins at 11am and make sure to check out the new location for the market: Bedford Avenue & N. 12th.

We’ve got a rich, eclectic and talented crew of more than 25 artists, designers and DIYers showcasing their work and when we say that there is something for everyone, we’re not kidding. Participating artists include umsteigen, M-E Clothing, Ivey Mae Jewelry, Gnome Enterprises, Georgia Varidakis Jewelry, Father Panik and a whole lot more. Grab your Greenmarket groceries, your Saturday picnic and come play with us.

And in the spirit of indy-ness, we’ve got a whole bunch of things to share tomorrow around what it means to be in business for yourself – a celebration of the entrepreneur, the market as an incubator, the power of the DIY (check out Amy’s coverage in Inc. Magazine from last week to get a taste of what it’s about).

The outdoors scare you a bit? Fear not. The Indoor Artist, Designer & Vintage Market is OPEN every Saturday and Sunday year-round. So if you want to double-down or focus on the vintage thing, we’ve got a line-up there for you, too!

The Greedy Seagull debuts a stunning collection of curated vintage with finds for everyone (left). Saturday & Sunday, Artists & Fleas, 12-8pm.

Sweets your thing? CUPS Cookies does you right. These are a fun take on a classic and will have you re-think what a cupcake really can be. Saturday, Artists & Fleas, 12-8pm.

I Love CandyBella is another way to treat yourself beyond eye-candy into something to put on, dress up and make a statement (pictured, below left). Saturday, Artists & Fleas, 12-8pm.

Jennifer Delilah Art Company’s visuals will take you through time and space to a whole new world. We kinda like how that feels. Saturday & Sunday, Artists & Fleas, 12-8pm.

And if seduction is your thing (how can anyone really resist), get inside Every Little Counts goods. These folks make their market debut with some thrilling threads with statements that are bold and beautiful (see bel0w). Sunday, Artists & Fleas, 12-8pm.
