Artists & Fleas in Chelsea Market is pleased to present Holding Things; Going Places, a selection of images from photographer Zack Dimen's life in New York City. Raw, gritty, sometimes shocking and always beautiful, Zack's images capture the true essence and contradictory nature of life in New York City.
Zack is a film photographer from Santa Barbara, CA. He studies at the International Center of Photographer in New York City and shoots strictly black and white film. At age 19, he moved in with some of the performers of the Coney Island Freak Show and began photographing their shows. His images in this series are some of the only to exist of these performances.
Zack eventually moved on from the freak show and began photographing his travels: Morocco, Cuba, and most recently a 12,000-mile cross-country road trip. After returning from the road trip, Zack knew he had to open his own darkroom. Currently he spends most weekdays printing there and selling his prints every weekend at Artists & Fleas in Williamsburg.
The show will be on view in the Chelsea Market concourse from January through the end of March.
