It's not just cherry blossoms that are in bloom in Brooklyn this weekend. There's an amazing brave new world of curated (ahem) art, design, fashion, jewelry, and cool merch by local artisans and designers. Of course it happens every weekend in Williamsburg but this one holds promise for more wow than usual. Chris & Pam are Montana-based collectors and hunters of Americana both classic and kitsch. They made the trip from their home state to sell and flea last weekend and this weekend. Whether it's a vintage chalkboard from the days of Welcome Back Kotter (the irony of bringing 1970s New York back to New York via Montana tickles us to no end) or Native American tobacco tins, theirs is the stuff of flea market fans the world over. Here's to making their load to take back a lot lighter. Saturday & Sunday
Class Attire aka the Chalkboard Tee has popped up around Brooklyn over the years. Their signature statement piece: the chalkboard t-shirt is a fan-fave and perennial hit. It's infinitely customizable which means you can write something one minute to shame your BFF and pen a love poem to her the next. Nice and easy without the annoying chalkboard skreech...you felt that one, right? Saturday & Sunday
Brooklyn-based with Southern roots is part of Southern Hospitality's signature charm and that's a club y'all want to be a part of. They're back with their scrubs, their balms and their foot powders with some throwback names that make us pine for a lazy weekend afternoon drinking an Abita in Bywater or anywhere else where you can kick up your feet and let time slow down. Saturday only
Retrograde Collective is the self-described love-child collaboration of Lorinda Constant (Made of Mischief) and Rachel Watson (Sisterwolves). Their collection of jewelry was born one wild night on the heels of a karaoke outing and that touched off a mad frenzy of jewelry-making and craft-creating that brings nature and astronomy together with 1970s punk and the occult. Oh yeah, this is the stuff your mama warned you about. Saturday & Sunday
Check out these fine folks and a slew of 50 other amazing taste-makers and market mavens this weekend in Williamsburg. And be sure to check out our pop-up this coming week as we return to Chelsea Market open daily from 10AM-7PM in the mecca of Manhattan food and all-things-artisanal-and-hip.
