Within the first hour that we opened the gates to our first market in the Arts District in May 2014, we immediately felt at home. This distinct part of Los Angeles had and continues to have so much of the vibe, dynamism, intimacy and creative energy that fuels Artists & Fleas. More significantly, the history of the neighborhood and its evolving nature in these changing times was familiar and felt oddly reminiscent of our early days in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2003 - a time and a place with which the vast majority of the thousands of visitors to our weekend market there have little contact. And yet, we feel that our presence - in Williamsburg today, in the Arts District next month - creates some thing that bridges both time and place. We've cultivated an amazing family in just 2 short years already in LA and in Venice. For some, the market is a gathering place to meet friends and neighbors, to connect the creative community. For others, it's an opportunity to discover new talent, new styles, new fashions and new personalities. For everyone, it's an experience that is intended to delight, to surprise and to explore people, places and things. Pairing Artists & Fleas with the Arts District Farmers' Market promises to be an experience that is not your typical farmers market. After all, it's the Arts District. It's a vital neighborhood teeming with creativity, exuberance and agents of change in a rapidly changing city.
We can't wait to be back home starting September 10th.
