The primary role and responsibility of the Director of Marketing is to create and implement a strategic marketing plan for the Company. This includes amplifying the marketing efforts of existing market locations; creating and implementing special events and partnership activations; launching future locations and channels; and overall brand marketing initiatives.

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for driving (defining, directing and implementing) all aspects of the marketing mix to include advertising, digital, social, in-store, events, partnerships and sponsorships and PR. Some marketing elements will be done collectively and/or in conjunction with the respective Market Managers and/or external vendors.

We’re looking for a passionate “whole brain marketer” who is capable of both creative and analytical thinking. In other words, someone who can create on-brand messaging and also monitor, measure and assess marketing campaigns. Artists & Fleas has two distinct audiences: a B2C audience (end customers and shoppers) and a B2B audience (merchants and prospective sellers). All marketing strategies and tactics must consider these two distinct audiences.

Overall Role Responsibilities:

  • Work with Founders to develop and implement (own, forecast and track) quarterly and annual Marketing Plan and Budget

  • Oversee and direct all marketing and marketing communications including:

  • Develop systems and processes to monitor and measure the impact of marketing (strategy and tactics)

  • Direct and manage outside consultants and agencies, when relevant

  • Create a comprehensive marketing dashboard that takes into account all current marketing channels and marketing mix, including:

    • Search (Website, SEO/Search, Google AdWords, etc.)

    • Social (Facebook / Instagram / etc.)

    • Direct Marketing (email & online / onsite in market locations)

    • Advertising (online / print / guerilla)

    • Video

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation of all web/digital content

  • Develop and manage social media marketing calendar

  • Develop sponsorship and partnership programs

  • Collaborate in creating new press pitches and conduct outreach efforts

  • Contribute to e-commerce strategy

Ideal candidate should have a demonstrated track record (7+ years) in creating, directing, evaluating and implementing marketing programs that utilize a broad marketing mix. Candidate should have the ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operational levels. Ideally, candidate will have experience in – and a passion for –  “disruptive retail.”

We are looking for an individual who is a creative thinker and a problem solver – someone who can bring innovative ideas to grow the brand and the business and be capable of executing upon them. Candidate should have demonstrated experience in both big picture thinking and the wisdom to recognize that the devil is in the details. We are looking for someone who can juggle a lot while remaining even-keeled and demonstrate grace under pressure.

This is a full time, salaried position (salary commensurate with experience).

This position reports directly to the Founders.
