Regeneration Retail Manager

Over the past 19 years, Artists & Fleas has created inspired marketplaces for shoppers looking to discover local designers and for makers seeking to showcase their collections and build their businesses. Regeneration, Artists & Fleas newest market focused on vintage, thrift and upcycled clothing, is both a weekend multi-vendor marketplace and a retail store open Thursdays and Fridays where weekend vendors leave their merchandise on consignment to be sold by our staff.

Regeneration is looking for an hospitality-minded, outgoing, and creative individual with a love of vintage and retail to lead sales generation and in-store conversion, participate in sales strategy development, manage a retail staff (team) and liaise with Directors of Retail and Marketing to innovate and implement retail sales strategies in the Regeneration store.

 

Key responsibilities include:

Sales & Retail

  • Develop and communicate store sales targets and create incentive strategies to motivate sales staff
  • Mentor staff on customer-focused and hospitality-oriented customer service to create a welcoming, attentive and helpful buying experience for customers
  • Train staff on clienteling strategies and techniques
  • Connect with clients daily to drive traffic to retail store
  • Drive sales through sharing product knowledge and shopping help
  • Maintain inventory throughout the store and remerchandise as needed
  • Post items for sale on Instagram
  • Process in-store and Instagram sales through POS system
  • Consistently meet sales goals
  • Implement a system for weekly reporting and analysis of sales metrics

Operations

  • Restock merchandise on the floor from fitting room
  • Ensure the sales floor, market facilities, and fitting rooms are clean and in working condition during all market hours
  • Oversee physical inventory and implement strategies to mitigate loss, including spot checks, customer interaction audits, merchant tagging, etc.
  • Conduct opening/closing procedures
  • Troubleshoot facility issues including HVAC, WiFi, etc. as needed
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a great vibe by monitoring music, lighting, temperature, and customer flow

Merchant Community Management

  • Oversee and assist new merchants in Wednesday’s product load-in and set up
  • Advise merchandising best practices and make adjustments as needed
  • Ensure merchants understand and adhere to Regeneration in-store brand visual guidelines
  • Be the go-to contact for all onsite questions
  • Learn and note product details to help with sales
  • Outreach to new merchants to invite to come sell at the market
    Stay up to date with and attend local markets, events, and visit stores

Marketing & Communications

  • Welcome and greet influencers and distribute market vouchers as directed
  • Capture photos and videos for our social media channels as directed by the Social Media Manager
  • Plan and host in-store shopping events to drive traffic and cultivate customers
  • Assist in Regeneration pop ups in other venues as needed
  • Work with Marketing Director to create in-store signage and ensure signage is up to date and in good condition at all times

Staff Management

  • Create and enforce consistent retail staff protocols and standards
  • Manage and oversee staff including:
    • Recruitment, hiring and compensation
    • Training and professional development (including orientation)
    • Performance reviews and oversight
    • Staff scheduling including vacation and time off
  • Train retail staff in sales techniques and best practices

Qualifications:

  • In depth knowledge of vintage clothing and current trends
  • An eye for styling and attention to detail
  • A proven track record of retail sales success including clienteling and relationship building
  • Friendly and energized by interacting with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Availability to work Wednesday afternoons, full days Thursday and Friday, and at least one weekend day
  • Timely– we have a zero tolerance policy for lateness
  • Responsible and attentive– you will be responsible for opening the store and securely locking it at night
  • Experience managing staff

Hours / Schedule:

This is a P/T hourly position with hours consisting of approximately 30 – 35 hours per week on Wednesday, (3:30 PM – 7:30PM) Thursday, (11:30 AM – 7:30 PM), Friday (11:30 AM – 7:30 PM), and Saturday and/or Sunday (10:30 AM – 6:30 PM). Please note, we are looking for candidates who can commit to a consistent schedule.

Compensation:

$25/hour plus monthly commission & an opportunity to work with a great team and a growing organization.
