Maker Stories: Stories from Makers Who Made It

This event is for the Makers. The business people channeling the spirit of craft and creativity to build something beautiful.

Maker Stories is an event series designed to share the stories earned and lessons learned from the Makers who have come before you. There are certain things that only someone in your shoes can understand. We have committed to creating a space where you can meet and talk with Makers who have made it.

This is a town hall style event. Giving you the opportunity to listen, learn and ask questions. Each Maker is different and we want to give our guests and speakers the opportunity explore topics together.

The goal for this get together is that you will get a few new ideas about how to tackle your current challenges and gain some foresight in to future challenges you haven’t yet considered. You’ll leave this event feeling inspired to grow and connected to the community of Makers here in NYC.

This Months Speaker: Jessica Taige, Founder & CEO, Jessie's Nutty Cups

"I have always wanted to do something that will have an impact on people's lives and now with Jessie’s Nutty Cups LLC I get to. Every bite is like a little escape, an added smile to your day. Handmade to order, they are bound put a smile on your face and butterflies in your stomach. I love making Nutty Peanut Butter Cups that you will love eating. It's as simple as that. So go ahead, let yourself be a little Nutty. " - Jessica Taige

"Funny, wry, straightforward advice" -Adweek

"Serving up optimism and hope" -NYLON

"Highly relatable and will make you laugh, cry and feel less crazy than you think you are. You're actually fine!" -Man Repeller

"In Things Are What You Make of Them, Kurtz shares mini-essays of how he deals with the intangibles that can keep people stuck, overwhelmed, or afraid to move forward. He also confronts the idea of what concepts like happiness and success look like to people in creative or more traditional industries." -Refinery29

Artists & Eats: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs

artists&eatsemail.jpg

Building on 15 years of helping artisanal businesses launch and grow, Artists & Fleas is hosting a special event in New York City on March 3rd. "Artists & Eats: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs" will feature more than twenty female-founded food businesses selling unique, delicious, handcrafted food and beverage products throughout the day.

Although admission is free, donations are encouraged to support Emma's Torch, a woman-founded non profit in New York, which provides culinary training to refugees. Anyone donating more than $10 will receive an Artists & Fleas branded tote bag containing special gifts as a thank you.

Emma's Torch founder, Kerry Brodie, is thrilled to be involved in this celebration of female food entrepreneurs: "We are so grateful for the fundraising support and the opportunity to make more people aware of our refugee-focused culinary program. Our students will be on hand as well--so people can personally taste what they can do!"

Visitors will find a variety of food offerings at the event, ranging from Call Me Caramel’s delectable gruyere cheese caramels and Yu Bakery’s yucca puffs to Jessie’s Nutty Cups’ creatively flavored peanut butter cups and LOLI Beauty's food grade beauty products. Peep the full lineup below.

Special thanks to these organizations for their support:
