Don't let the headlines confuse you or make a fool out of you, the kids are back in town and they're coming out of hibernation this weekend hungry to show, share, tell and sell of their exploits while we winter'ed in Williamsburg. And man, have they got it going on - New Orleans' artist Serene Bacigalupi of Leroys Place (pictured above) brings her collection of monsters, paint-by-numbers, Shrinky-Dink jewels and eclectic art pieces back for the start of a Spring season.
It feels not that long ago that That Burger
Tent came on the scene taking the simple pleasure of burger-slinging back to the people. Maestro Dan Petersen hit fast-forward on his passion and turned his weekend pop-up stand into a formidable food force at East Village hangouts Billy Hurricane and Idle Hands. This time, he brings it back to Williamsburg with a treat that may set the hipsterati reeling when he unveils That Tot Spot, an homage to that staple of great middle American snack foods: the tater tot. On Saturday, it's a take-no-prisoners execution and it's all about the sauces: bourbon-spiked ketchup and crabby mayo to start. Pile them on hot and high.
The knock-out blow to this holy of holiday weekends in Williamsburg? A mighty iPhone app, of course. But not just any app - this one called Domino debuts a Shop, Drop & Drink Williamsburg Brooklyn Saturday shopping extravaganza with over 2 dozen participating local retailers, restaurants and bars with all sorts of deals to make this weekend a memorable one. To us, it's all about hanging out, checking out and shopping.
Artists & Fleas is open in Williamsburg every Saturday & Sunday from 10AM-7PM. Don't forget to take in the sights and sounds of our pop-up Chelsea flea - Artists & Fleas at Chelsea Market - on the corner of 15th Street & 10th Avenue inside Chelsea Market, open daily from 10:30AM-7PM, 8PM on Thursdays through Saturdays. Double your pleasure, double your fun.
