- Build excitement. 2-3 weeks before you set up shop, update your Instagram bio with @artistsandfleas or @re_generation and your selling dates. Start a teaser campaign to showcase what you will be selling. Post and use stories throughout your stay to entice people to shop.
- Tag and use hashtags. Instagram and TikTok are search engines too! Maximize your posts by including text, tags, and hashtags that appeal to the types of customers who are looking for you.
- Share the Love. Show your fellow merchants some love with a follow and start engaging with their content. Explore and follow accounts you admire so new followers can discover you too.
- Use the 60/30/10 Rule. 60% of your posts should be engaging content that gets people reacting, commenting, and sharing (see tips below!), 30% should be re-shared posts, and 10% should be promoting sales, events, and products.
- Engagement is key. Ask customers to share their purchases and tag your brand, then repost them! Support your local community—this consistent engagement via comments, shares, and DMs also helps Instagram understand who to promote your profile to.
Don’t forget these important profile updates:
- Convert to a Business Profile. This way, you can track what resonates with your audience by viewing analytics.
- Optimize Your Bio: Make sure you link to your website, add @artistsandfleas or @re_generation, and add hashtags that will help people find you (#artistsandfleas + #makersgonnamake or #regenerationaf + #vintagefashion are a good place to start!).
- Update Your Bio Link. If you have a LinkTree or other link collective in your bio, you can add the link to your market location’s page on our website to make it easier for shoppers to find you.
- Create Story Highlights. They are a great way to get in front of your followers and to save stories for your audience to reference later.
