Founded in 2015, Askan is a New York City-based brand inspired by the city art and street culture.

How did your business get started? 
We have always been attracted to streetwear. Working corporate was never fulfilling, so when the opportunity presented itself to open a store in 2015, the transition from corporate to business ownership was made. Then about a year later we started making apparel.

How do you make your products?
We make most of our product in-house via screen printing and embroidery.

What inspires your craft?
New York city culture, Hip Hop, pop culture

What’s your favorite product?
Our New York pizza t-shirt, because it is a clever design and both the locals and the tourists get it right away.

Why do you sell at Artists & Fleas?
Artists & Fleas has always provided a platform for local and independent brands. There is a great variety of vendors that make the market cohesive. We have a similar mindset and have always been working with other local vendors for years. Watching how Artists & Fleas has grown from one location in such a short time is also very inspiring.
