- Market Health & Safety Guidelines
Support small business in your community. Support our Makers.
Supporting your community of small business makers and creators has never been more important. Since 2003, we’ve been a place for retail discovery, experimentation and fun. We remain committed to that now more than ever and to doing so in a setting that is comfortable and safe for all. Please read some of the guidelines on how you can also do it. (And, of course, if you’re not ready to shop IRL, you can always view some of the brands on our website.
Keep Those Masks On.
We’ll have them on, too. It’s required.
And Keep Those Hands Clean.
Bring your own sanitizer or take advantage of our sanitizer stations. Opt for contactless checkout where available.
Reconsider Trying Before Buying.
Please do not handle or try on any items you don’t intend to purchase.
Discover New Things — At A (Social) Distance.
If someone’s in a booth you’d like to visit, give them space to shop and come back later. If you don’t have time, grab a business card.
- Do I have to pay an entry fee to shop?
Nope! Artists & Fleas is free and open to the public at all market locations.
- What types of payment do the merchants accept?
Most merchants accept credit cards, cash, Venmo and other methods of payment including QRC and touch-free. Artists & Fleas does not dictate the types of payment individual merchants accept but encourages contactless payment as much as possible.
- What’s the average price point for products sold at Artists & Fleas?
Our merchants carry a variety of merchandise in a fairly wide price range, typically from $10-$500. Price ranges vary by business and merchandise type.
- Is there parking available?
Most Artists & Fleas marketplaces are located in areas where street parking is available, though they are high-traffic areas. Parking proximity to the marketplace varies by neighborhood – we suggest taking public transportation whenever possible!
- Is the market wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Yes, all our market locations are situated on the ground floor with interior aisles large enough to accommodate wheelchairs, strollers, or other mobility vehicles. In some cases, a market manager may need to assist with implementing our handicap ramps. In the event that a handicap ramp is needed, please call the market location you’ll be visiting and we’ll be ready for you!
- Can I bring my dog?
Furry friends are welcome in our standalone marketplaces including Williamsburg, Industry City and Venice if they are leashed and are certified service animals. In the event of our locations that are integrated within larger retail environments, like Chelsea Market, we cannot accommodate dogs (but they can still hang outside in front of our fun murals!).
- Will I be able to find my favorite merchants time and time again?
Some merchants sell with us on a long-term (3 months or more) basis while others cycle through at various intervals. Check out website before each visit for the full list of who you’ll find at each location. Keep tabs on your favorites – follow their social channels to see where they’ll be next!
- I got this awesome item, but now I want to buy more of it! Can I find it online?
We recommend that you reach out directly to the merchant you purchased the item from! If you’re having trouble locating their website or contact information, let us know and we’ll help you out.
- Can I return an item I bought in-store?
Since all merchants who sell with us operate their sales independently, Artists & Fleas does not facilitate or field return requests. Please contact the maker you purchased from in the event that you would like a refund.
- Do you sell food at your markets?
Many of our marketplaces host hot and/or prepackaged food & beverage merchants from time to time but all are located in proximity to some of the most innovative and tasty food artisans and food makers around from Williamsburg to Industry City to Chelsea Market in NYC and all around the neighborhood from the beach and inland in Venice.
- Do you have public bathrooms?
While our marketplaces don’t have public restrooms available, Market Managers are available to assist in the event of an emergency. Nearby public amenities are available at Industry City and Chelsea Market.
- Are there fitting rooms available?
Fitting room availability varies from location to location.
- Do your marketplaces have climate control?
All of our indoor marketplaces have both heating and air conditioning for whatever temperatures the weather brings. We encourage you to check the weather forecast when planning a visit to one of our outdoor locations.
- How can I join the Artists & Fleas merchant community?
Visit our online application and fill it out today! We accept applications on a rolling basis.
- Is there additional information regarding health and safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
In accordance with New York State and New York City and Los Angeles County and the State of California health and government guidelines, all visitors to the markets are required to wear face masks and to engage in safe social distance practices. Additionally, any individual who is sick or is not feeling well is requested to not enter the marketplace. Access is restricted to anyone who may have recently been exposed to the COVID-19 virus and all marketplaces will require self-certification by all merchants and their employees upon entry.
